DEFINITELY SPOILERS BELOW!
A little change up from the standard music review. Mainly because I've been completely consumed by Game of Thrones and it deserves its own post. I'll probably do an April/May/June music review later on but for now, let's focus on the ending of one of the greatest TV shows of all time.
It’s not often that an independent artist manages to get one over the biggest record label in the world. In fact it’s basically unheard of for an unsigned artist to release one of the biggest and most anticipated albums of the decade on their own label and on their own terms. However, there has never quite been an artist like Frank Ocean.

Daft Punk had emerged in the house scene in 1997 with their debut Homework that sold reasonably well and received significant critical acclaim. They followed up with a new album four years later, Discovery, which has sold over 2 million copies and helped establish Daft Punk’s identity in the mainstream.

“Who said that? WHO SAID THAT? You Speakerboxxx guys get out of here no Speakerboxxxing! I hate Speakerboxxes.”

My earliest musical memory takes place with my five year old self sat in front of the TV. Top of the Pops was a show that aired every week and featured the top artists on the charts performing their songs. I don’t have any vivid memories of any particular performances. However the most vivid memory I have from that age is a video of a band that didn’t show up, because they didn’t really exist.
So welcome to AV Campaign!
This is my series on my favourite music videos/films that have been released with albums. Some might be narratives that span across multiple music videos, some might be whole films in themselves and some might just be outright brilliant but the whole theme is based on innovation and originality in music videos in a single promo campaign.
